Yardenna Aaron has been appointed to be the new executive director of the Maintenance Corporation Trust Fund (MCTF).
Aaron follows Lilia Garcia-Brower, who was appointed to the position of California state Labor Commissioner by Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2019.
For six years, Aaron has collaborated with the MCTF on strategic investigation and advocacy seeking fair competition among janitorial contractors. Aaron, who is fluent in Spanish, took the reins at the end of January.
Richard Dotts, MCTF Board President, said: “It is important to combat wage theft in the non-union janitorial industry. I am confident that Yardenna Aaron will continue to defend worker rights and lead the MCTF’s effort to hold the industry accountable.”

It’s the responsibility of workers, employers and all the stakeholders involved to promote fair standards in our industry.”
The MCTF is a watchdog organization whose mission is to abolish illegal and unfair business practices. The organization investigates allegations of employment law violations and partners with local, state, and federal enforcement agencies to hold unscrupulous contractors accountable. The MCTF has found over $80 million in unpaid wages in the past 20 years that have followed by more than 100 enforcement actions including criminal prosecutions, administrative adjudication and civil prosecution by various government agencies throughout the state.
